SUNJET II Progress Meeting, Berlin

The SUNJET II consortium successfully conducted a project meeting on the 1st of June 2016 at DLR, Berlin, which was combined with the SUNJET II Forum during the ILA-Berlin Airshow.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the European and Japanese partners and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). It was chaired by the Project Coordinator, Jean-François Perelgritz, with the support of Airbus consultant Guy Gallic.

The meeting began with the welcome speech of Prof. Rolf Henke of the German Aerospace Center, DLR. During the morning session a number of presentations provided the progress status of the project. The dissemination activities performed within the previous semester were presented as well as the new features and updates of the e-Collaboration Platform, the Guidance Desk and how the International Forum for Aviation Research, IFAR platform is connected to the SUNJET II platform.

During the afternoon session European and Japanese partners discussed about the 1st set of recommendations and technological roadmaps suggested by the project and the lessons learnt during this process, in order to define the next steps and the process to be followed for the 2nd set of recommendations. The participants had the opportunity to share their ideas and goals and to offer constructive suggestions.

The meeting concluded with the preparation of next forums at Japan Aerospace 2016 and Paris Air Show 2017.

The consortium is working in close cooperation and supported by Japanese mirror organizations, including the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC), the Japan Aircraft Development Corporation (JADC), the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the University of Tokyo and Chubu Aerospace Industry and Technology Center (C-ASTEC).
